Manchester United travel to Craven Cottage for a final Premier League clash before the World Cup against Fulham on Sunday.
After losing to Aston Villa last weekend in the league, Erik Ten Hag’s side came back with a 4-2 win over Unai Emery’s men in the EFL Cup. They will be hoping to bring that confidence into this game and continue the signs of regrowth that have been shown under Ten Hag.
predicted XI
One of the big decisions Ten Hag needs to make in terms of selection is who to play at right-back. Since the new manager came in Diogo Dalot has played near enough every single minute of football. But an accumulation of bookings means the Portuguese defender will miss out due to suspension.
If this was under a different manager, the change would seem obvious and Aaron Wan-Bissaka would replace him. But he has barely been in a matchday squad under Ten Hag. Whilst Victor Lindelof has played some games at right-back both at club level and internationally, Tyrell Malacia would seem the more appropriate choice at fullback.
The forward line poses its own issues, as it has done all season. The Ronaldo issue is still rearing its head. Cristiano wasn’t in the matchday squad midweek due to illness so whether he is fit is a doubt. Both Jadon Sancho and Antony still have concerns over their fitness.
One player who has seriously taken his opportunity is Alejandro Garnacho. The youngster has been mightily impressive in his most recent performances. But it’s important that he is not rushed in and there isn’t too much pressure put on the boy. Coming off the bench having twenty minutes every now and then would seem a much more measured approach.
With that in mind here is the predicted lineup.

Opposition
Fulham are having a very strong start to the season after being promoted from the championship. Marco Silva’s side are currently 9th in the table. In their last six games, they have two wins, two draws and two losses.
Former Red Devil, Andreas Pereira has settled in well for Fulham and is proving to be a strong addition to their squad. Pereira has created 14 chances for Aleksandar Mitrovic in the Premier League this season, more than any player has for a teammate in the competition so far this term.
Mitrovic will no doubt be a handful in and around the penalty area. However with Martinez returning to the starting lineup United should be able to keep him quiet.
Score Prediction
After the chaos of the Villa game midweek, United could do with a nice calm comfortable win. Marcus to get himself back on the scoresheet and Martial to bag another for a 2-0 United win.
