This afternoon, Manchester United travel down to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City. This will be Ralf Rangnick’s second Premier League in charge of Manchester United. After a strong start in the League for Rangnick, hopefully we can see another good result here.
Opposition
Norwich come into this fixture with something of mixed form. In their last 6 games, they have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2. However in the league this season, of the 15 matches played, they have only won 2, drawn 4 and lost the other 9. This gives them a total of 10 points and puts them in 20th place. This doesn’t seem too surprising though as Norwich seem to be another one of those teams who are constantly hopping between the Premier League and the Championship.
I think Dean Smith will line-up with a 3-5-2 or as it sometimes might look a 3-5-1-1. Starting with Tim Krul in net. And then the back three of Kabak, Gibson and Hanley. At left wing-back Brandon Williams will be unable to start against his parent club and so we could see Dimitris Giannoulis line-up in that position. With Max Aarons on the right. And then in the centre of that five I think we will see Normann, Gilmour and McLean. With Todd Cantwell playing just behind Teemu Pukki.
Manchester United
After fully rotating in midweek, Rangnick should be looking at a very strong team here. With a pretty favourable run ahead of us, United should look to build some momentum and continue getting the results we need. With that in mind I expect Rangnick to stick with the 4-2-2-2 that we have seen used so far. David de Gea will no doubt return to start in net. With a back four of Telles, Maguire, Lindelöf and Dalot. I think Shaw is fit enough to play, but I don’t think his performance midweek warranted a start this weekend.
In the midfield area, I think we will see Fred and McTominay in the two deeper positions. And then in the wider creative areas I think we will see Sancho and Bruno return to those positions. Hopefully, we can see Sancho put in another good performance and create some strong chances for the two strikers. In terms of the two strikers, I think we could see Ronaldo and Greenwood. Ronaldo starting just seems inevitable at this point. I think Greenwood could come in for Rashford here. Marcus hasn’t been putting in the best performances and Mason put in a solid performance midweek. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see that change here.
Having said all that I think United should win this game. Norwich do have a few dangerous players. The likes of Max Aarons on the right and Cantwell through the centre could cause issues. But I’m going for a United win. Hopefully we can keep another clean sheet. I am going for a 3-0 United win.
